I use 1/4” dowels to pin dulcimer fingerboard assemblies to the tops. Due to the way I make kayak-shaped dulcimers the centerline of the top may not end up being the centerline of the instrument. I could avoid this by using a body mold, but it is part off the charm of this model as far as I’m concerned. It’s more of an organic process.
